Understanding Specification Sheet Measurements

Adhesion:
The amount of force required to remove the tape from a surface. Very useful in determining a products suitability for specific applications.

Tack:
The distance a ball rolls along the tape’s adhesive. The shorter the distance that the ball rolls, the quicker the tape will aggressively seal to the substrate.

Holding Strength:
A measurement of time which helps to determine how well the adhesive will grip tight to a surface. Be careful of your feet if the tape used to seal the heavy carton that your carrying has poor holding strength.

Tensile Strength:
Allows you to know hold much force is required to break the backing material. Most important if you’re dealing with heavy items.

Elongation:
Also measures when a backing material will break, but you may want your tape bending or stretching a certain amount before it breaks.
